What is Microneedling?
Micro-Needling works in two main ways.
Firstly, it creates micro-channels in the skin for the up-take of carefully selected, active ingredients. Thanks to these pathways, vitamins and nutrients are delivered deeper into the skin to feed it from the inside out. It allows 80%+ absorption of vitamins from serums, compared with just 7% if applied on skin that has not been treated.
Secondly, Micro-Needling disrupts the collagen fibres and therefore stimulates the collagen production and repair process. The result is more collagen fibres that are stronger and closer together. This helps the skin to look younger and improves overall skin tone.
Microneedling is a very popular skin rejuvenation treatment and is perfect for boosting collagen, reducing scarring, improving sun damage and reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
What does it feel like?
Microneedling is an advanced treatment that uses tiny single-use sterile needles that gently work over the skin. Most clients find the treatment comfortable however, mild discomfort can sometimes be experienced on areas such as the forehead and eye area. Your treatment will be adapted for your comfort.
Are there any side effects?
Your skin can look slightly red immediately following the treatment. This is a good result as it shows the skin is responding to the treatment. You must refrain from wearing makeup for 24 hours following the treatment, stay out of the sun and avoid perfumed cosmetics and direct heat (hot showers, baths etc) Your skin may feel tight, or like mild sunburn 1-3 days after. In some cases you can experience some mild dryness after. Keep the skin moisturised with a gentle cream. By days 7-10, your skin will be looking rejuvenated.
When will I see the results?
7-10 days after treatment your skin will be looking visibly rejuvenated. Results continue to work beyond this time.
Courses of treatments are advised for best results.
For ageing skin, sun damage, skin tone and texture, 3 - 6 treatments are recommended, 1 every 4 - 6 weeks.
For scarring, 6 - 8 treatments are recommended, 1 every 4-6 weeks.
